A revolutionary bike wheel made by a San Francisco company, will not only end the need for training wheels, but also, enable kids to learn to ride a two-wheel bike in an afternoon! At least that's what Gyrobike is attesting will happen, with their new Gyrowheel.
The Gyrowheel, which fits on any normal bike, resembles a normal wheel, except for the spokes, which have been replaced by a closed wheel that contains a spinning disc, powered by a rechargeable battery.
When turned on, the wheel starts to spin rapidly, independent of the outer wheel, creating a force so strong, that when the rider wobbles, it acts as a counterbalance, not only helping to stabilize him, but also, preventing him from toppling over.
Once the rider gets more confident, the setting on the disc can be gradually reduced and then turned off completely. After that, the bike can be ridden like a normal two-wheeler.
Gyrobike plans to manufacture the 'miracle' wheel in three sizes - A 12" kids size (scheduled to be in stores by December 1st), a 16" and an adult size-version - for those parents who never learned how to ride a bike!

- tashadtashaabout 10 yearsI already got trained on training wheels. I have to admit they are kinda bad. The scratchy sound they make in the back was annoying. I would be so happy if they came out with this earlier so I wouldn't have to learn on weird training wheels.
