A 5th Grade reporter from Pahokee, who has interviewed more celebrities than most 'real' reporters, has added another feather in his cap - A full college scholarship from the Albany State University in Georgia.
Damon Weaver, who attends K.E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary School in Palm Beach, first rose to fame after his candid interview with Vice President, Joe Biden in October 2008.
Soon the budding reporter was interviewing important political figures like Colin Powell and Caroline Kennedy. He also got to work on a special series about violence in his neighborhood for the Television show 20/20 and interview celebrities like Paula Abdul for Disney's Dreamer Academy. He even went to the President's Inaugural ceremony, where he hobnobbed with Oprah Winfrey and shared an anchor desk with the likes of Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson.
Now this pint-sized reporter has been offered a full college scholarship, which will be awarded to him in June.
While this is all great, Damon has still not been able to achieve the one dream of his life - an interview with President Barack Obama. He has tried every trick in the book including asking basketball player, Dwayne Wade to plead his case. Maybe, he should try asking Malia and Sasha - We get the feeling they would understand, and that their dad would listen to them!
