New York City is well-known for its funky hotels - But this latest one is definitely the coolest. Located in South Seaport, Manhattan, the new hotel that opened to 'guests' on September 17th, is built entirely from key cards.
The 400 sq.ft. hotel, that has one guest room with an attached bath and a lobby to 'check' in guests, is furnished, complete with a bed, television set and sofa, all built using the signature green and white Holiday inn key cards. Even the toilet seat is covered with them.
But before you rush to make that reservation, the 'hotel' is just a temporary structure built to launch the re-opening of 1,200 newly re-furbished Holiday Inn hotels all over the world. It is however open for the public to view until September 21.
The Holiday Inn Key Card Hotel is the genius work of card-stacking world record holder, Bryan Berg, who used 200,000 key cards to build the entire structure. It is not only the largest structure he has ever built, but the first one that can be entered into by people. And his work is not done yet - This weekend, he will be in the hotel's lobby, building a 9-ft. replica of the Empire State building using - green and white key cards of course!
