A 14-year old from Novato California, recently become one of the youngest app developers for Apple, wth his virtual card-sharing application designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Pierce Freeman's, CardShare allows people to exchange business cards virtually, with the mere flick of a finger on the iPhone, eliminating the need for paper. While the single card version is free, a 99cts premium is charged to those who wish to store multiple cards. Over four hundred people have downloaded CardShare, since it was added to the App store on January 14th.

The self taught programmer said that it took him eight months to write the over 11,000 lines of code, required to create the program - And, he somehow managed to fit in school, homework, practice for a lead role in the school play and managing a totally unrelated photography business as well!

While Pierce's family is thrilled at his early success, they are not surprised, for he has always been an unusual child. He started playing around with computers when he was just two and was browsing the Internet by the time he turned six.

At eight, he had built his own website and also decided that he was going to attend Cambridge -based, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), when he grew up. However, instead of waiting until he finished high school, he decided to let the school know that same year by sending in his letter of 'application' . . . . And, he has been sending one in every year since! To read more about this amazing teen read his blog - piercefreeman.net/blog.
