When California resident Carolee Hazard offered to help a fellow shopper pay her bill, she had no idea that her impulsive gesture of generosity would torpedo into a tsunami - One that will help feed hundreds of hungry families.

It all began in the summer of 2009 when Jenni Ware rang up a bill of $207 USD at a grocery store, before realizing that she had left her wallet at home. That's when fellow shopper, Carolee Hazard stepped in and offered to lend her the money.

When Jenni refunded the money, she added $93USD, asking Carolee to use the extra funds to treat herself to a nice massage. Not comfortable with the idea, the latter turned to her friends on Facebook to ask for ideas.

When several suggested donating it to charity, she agreed, deciding to add her own $93USD to the kitty. When she turned back to her Facebook friends to ask for their charity suggestions, she picked up another $93USD from a pal who was inspired by her generosity. To her surprise, this started a chain reaction of people wanting to join in and, the establishment of the $93 Dollar Club.

While over a year has gone by since Carolee helped Jenni, the ripple effect continues. With people donating anywhere from 93cts. to $93USD, the club has raised $100,000USD for the local chapter of the Second Harvest food bank and hopes to raise even more in the near future.

So, the next time you see someone having a tough day, be sure to lend a hand, and see if you can start a ripple effect of generosity and kindness.
