Anyone who has ever downloaded game apps on their smart devices (and who hasn't) knows that 'Angry Birds' has ruled the roost for a long time. Well, now there is a new app in town - And unlike the former, this is not developed by 17 professional engineers, but by 14-year old Robert Nay, from Spanish Fork, Utah.
Dubbed Bubble Ball, the free application has been downloaded over 2 million times since it was added to the Apple's App store on December 29th - To put that into perspective that's about 70,000 times a day - And, the numbers keep growing!
For those of you who still haven't discovered it, Bubble Ball is an engrossing strategy game that involves using the basic rules of physics to guide the ball to its final destination. While it sounds simple, the game requires a lot of skill and patience, not to mention some science knowledge - And, with 32 levels to choose from, is bound to keeps players engaged for a long time.
Robert says he decided to develop the game because he has always enjoyed playing with them and thought it would be cool to develop an app himself. For inspiration, he took the best features from his favorite games and amalgamated them into his own creation. The dedicated youngster says he spent countless hours on perfecting the game, which has over 4,000 lines of code - All written by him!
Besides being a whiz programmer, Robert is also a music prodigy, and plays the piano, trumpet and mandolin! We for one can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
