When retired shipyard worker John McAlinden adopted a parrot from his friends two months ago, he was told that the yellow-headed Amazon was a quiet calm fellow, that hardly ever uttered a word. Nothing, could have been further from the truth.
Turns out that Pepe used to formerly reside inside a taxi firm, where he picked up some interesting vocabulary. He now spends his entire day shrieking instructions like ‘taxi for Govan’ and ‘taxi for Lidl’, or even ‘car one, car two’ and ‘10-4’.
The bird sounds so genuine that John's neighbors thought the 55-year old was running an illegal taxi operation and called in the police. Of course there was not much they could fault John for once they discovered the culprit behind the ruckus.
The Glasgow resident finds the whole situation quite hilarious, but is hoping for the sake of his neighbors, that Pepe calms down and stops calling out fictitious taxi reservations.
