This simple looking bottle costs almost $300 US Dollars, but its inventor Michael Pritchard says the "Life Saver" can turn even the murkiest and yucky water into drinking water!
The idea to invent this bottle came to Mr. Pritchard after watching people suffer in two natural disasters - the Tsunami in Indonesia and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. He realized that after both the disasters, the biggest problem was finding clean drinkable water - and the "Life Saver" was born.
He says that the Life Saver is superior because conventional filters only cut out bacteria measuring more than 200 nanometers while his filters cut out even viruses which are typically just 25 nanometers long. In case you are wondering, one nanometer measures one-billionth of a meter.
The UK Military are already big fans of the "Life Saver". The soldiers were particularly excited because of the kind of conditions they have to be in and to carry a bottle like this can be a huge relief. Mr. Pritchard is hoping that his bottles will be used extensively in all situations, but especially during major natural disasters.
Watch the video below for a more detailed explanation how the "Life Saver" works by the inventor himself.
