The 13th Annual Winter X(treme)- Games ended in Aspen , Colorado amidst much excitement yesterday. As the name indicates, the three-day event, which features snowboarding, extreme Skiing and Snowmobile racing, is filled with thrilling action.

Every year, athletes from all over the world, flock to Aspen and try push their sport to a new level - for that's the only way a medal can be won, and last year's trick won't do either.

One of the most popular and most decorated athlete of the event is Shaun White, a 22-year old youngster from Carlsbad, California. He first shot to fame in 2003, when he dominated the snowboarding events at the X-Games - and he hasn't stopped since.

Last night, the boy who has been nicknamed Flying Tomato, thanks to his flowing red hair, became the first athlete to win back-to-back titles in the snowboard superpipe. The evening didn't begin too well for the young athlete, who got wiped out in his first two tries. Delegated to seventh place, Shaun rose to the challenge in his third and final run. He nailed the medal with a backside 540 (1-1/2 rotations), and a 900 (2-1/2 rotations), that preceded back-to-back 1,080's (three rotations) and a McTwist 540!

And that was not Shaun's only medal at these games - the previous night, he won the Snowboard Slopestyle (freestyle snowboarding), by performing a seldom seen high-flying trick on a mountain that was a little slushy thanks to the warmer than normal Aspen weather.

Shaun now has a record nine gold and 14 overall X-Games medals, making him the most decorated athlete at these games - and as if that is not enough, he even won the Olympic gold at the Snowboard Halfpipe competitions in the 2006 Olympics.

We are sure we will be seeing a lot of this Flying Tomato at the next X-Games and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . To read more about this amazing athlete check out his website - www.shaunwhite.com/
