London's Alexandra Palace Exhibition was abuzz with excitement from October 14th - October 17th, its halls brimming with aspiring inventors, all vying for the coveted British Invention of the Year and the World Invention Awards.

Now in its ninth year, the competition attracts inventors from all over the World. This year, over 15 countries were represented and as usual, the inventions ranged from total genius to a little wacky! Here is a sampling of this year's entrants.

Throw-me Magic Tea Towel

Priced at just $3.50USD, this may soon be a coveted household addition. Invented by Pep Torress from Barcelona, it solves the age-old issue of where to hang the kitchen towel. Somehow there is never a right place! This magic towel comes equipped with a magnetic rust-free chip and can simply be tossed toward the nearest appliance - refrigerator, oven or dishwasher - It will simply stick to it, and imagine the fun of being able to throw the towel around the whole kitchen!

Loominate

How many times have you had to rush to the bathroom in the middle of the night and fumble around in the dark for the elusive light switch? Now for just $20 USD you can get the Loominate, a small light that has a built-in infrared sensor, which automatically switches on when it detects motion.

Scratch-Off Postcard

Want to send your friend a note, but don't want anyone else to read it? Then you need one of these - Your message will be 'hidden', until your pal scratches off the top layer with a coin - and for just 50cts a postcard, it is quite a bargain!

Subeo Gemini

A recreational submarine, built for people who want to and have the money to simply disappear underwater for a few hours - For the battery operated submersible, which fits two, costs a hefty $600,000 USD!

Other fun inventions included a 'Diet Tile' that screams 'Step Away . . . . Put down that donut' - ideal for dieters or to catch the cookie thief in your household, a self illuminating walking stick to help the elderly and our favorite -The Bathomatic, a device that remotely fills up the bath-tub and maintains the right temperature, so that you can jump right in, after that hard day at school! Be sure to let us know which one is your favorite!
