With a steering wheel made from carrot and other root vegetable fibers, seats made from flax and soybean foam, this race car which uses plant-based lubricants, is almost entirely biodegradable and . . . . almost edible!
And there is more. . . The WorldFirst Formula 3 car, is powered by waste produced by chocolate factories and vegetable oil. With a maximum speed of 145 mph, this yummy-sounding vehicle is one of the world's fastest biofuel car made.
The WorldFirst Formula 3 is the brainchild of a group of scientists and engineers from London's University of Warwick, who wanted to show car manufacturers that it is possible to build a fast, sleek-looking car, that is also environmentally friendly.
While the car's weight, size and performance are all eligible for Formula 3 racing, it cannot compete, because under current rules, cars running on biofuel are not eligible . However, the 'green' car will be hanging out on the sidelines for all to admire at some of the biggest Formula 3 races this year, including the European Grand Prix and Britain's Goodward Festival of Speed.
Formula Three or F3 as it is often called, is a class of open-wheel formula racing, that is considered to be the training grounds for future Formula One or F1 drivers. Though not as famous as Formula 1, Formula 3 races are equally popular and as thrilling.
