How do you protect a street that has more accidents than any other place in the whole United Kingdom ? You Bubble Wrap it of course! At least that's what insurance comparison website Confused.com did to Sommerville Road in Worcester.

In fact, the small street has so many accidents reported every year, that it has been nicknamed 'Accident Avenue', - and thanks to the icy weather, this year has been even worse.

Confused.com decided to pull the stunt to highlight the dangers of driving in the icy weather and wanted people to be extra careful and vigilant.

It took eight men, over 12 hours and 1,500 Sq. Meters of Bubble Wrap to cushion everything from the trees, to the pavement to even the gnomes in the gardens - The result, as you can see, is quite stunning.

Confused.com said that it would have loved to Bubble Wrap every street in the United Kingdom, but they simply ran out of the packing material!

Oddly enough, this stunt coincides with Bubble Wrap's 50th anniversary. Originally conceived to be textured wallpaper, the ubiquitous cushioning plastic has a huge fan following with over a million fans on Facebook!

Besides being used as packaging, Bubble Wrap is quite popular as a stress reducer and to create things like wigs, mobile homes, sleeping bags and even wedding dresses!
