While for most of us Presidents' Day means enjoying a three day weekend, there is more to it than meets the eye. Celebrated on the third Monday of February, the day is intended to honor all American presidents, especially our founding father George Washington and the president who helped reshape our country - Abraham Lincoln.
Prior to 1968, both the Presidents had their own birthday celebrations - February 12th for Abraham Lincoln and February 22nd for George Washington.
In 1968, the 90th Congress decided to streamline Federal holidays and combined the two celebrations by calling it Presidents' Day - The law went into effect in 1971 and since then the third Monday of February has been a holiday to honor all our awesome presidents. In case you cannot recall who they were, below is entire line up.
